Aftermath is designed for local file work. A selected file is read in the browser, and tools that make a change offer a separate download. The tool does not replace your source file or send it to an Aftermath processing service. Routes marked “Source held · not indexed” remain available for direct use, but their linked external source still needs review.

Which tool should I use if I only know the upload requirement?
Start with Resize images or Custom image settings for a general size or format requirement. For a named application, use its destination-specific validator and compare the values with the active official notice.
Which tool removes image location or camera details?
Use Remove image metadata. It creates a separate locally re-encoded copy; review that copy before sharing because visible content can still reveal private information.
Can I change a PDF without uploading it?
Yes. The PDF tools work in the current browser tab and offer a separate download. They deliberately reject encrypted, signed, interactive-form, or permission-restricted PDFs rather than risk a broken copy.
Can I process a video without uploading it?
The Video workspace starts with a local browser preview and capability check for one MP4, M4V, MOV, or WebM file. It reports unsupported codecs rather than uploading a source file to a fallback service.
Can I process audio without uploading it?
Yes. The Audio workspace decodes, processes, encodes, and verifies supported audio in a browser worker, then offers a separate MP3 or WAV download. Unsupported files are not sent to a fallback service.
