Image layout · browser local

Flip an image without uploading it.

Choose an image, select horizontal or vertical flip, and download a separate local PNG. The source stays untouched.

What this workspace does

A correctly mirrored local copy.

Use it accurately

Inspect images containing text after flipping: a mirror operation reverses readable text.

Private browser processing

Selected files are processed in the current browser session. Aftermath has no account, cloud file storage, or server-side file-processing job.

How to use this tool

Select one local image, choose horizontal mirror or vertical mirror, and download a separate PNG with the same canvas width and height. Horizontal flip reverses left and right; vertical flip reverses top and bottom. The source file is not changed. This route does not rotate, crop, resize, or combine images, and mirrored photographs containing words or directional symbols need visual review because readable content is reversed.

What to choose and what you get

What to choose

  • one supported local image

Result

  • one separately downloaded mirrored PNG

Supported use

  • One verified local JPG, PNG, or WebP decoded to a raster canvas and mirrored on either axis.
  • A separate PNG output that retains the decoded source width and height while leaving the selected file untouched.

Before you start

  • Flip does not mean rotate: there is no 90-degree or 180-degree turn in this focused layout route.
  • The new PNG does not promise original animation, container metadata, compression, file size, or external acceptance.

Supported formats

  • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP.
  • Output formats: PNG.

Browser support and permissions

  • Modern browser with JavaScript, a supported image decoder, and enough memory for the selected image.
  • No camera, microphone, or screen permission is needed.

Choose the right settings

  • Use horizontal mirror for a left-right reversal and vertical mirror for a top-bottom reversal.
  • Use /custom when rotation, crop, dimensions, background, or output format must change as part of the same task.
  • Use /combine-images only when several sources should share one row or column; it does not mirror them.

Worked example

A directional icon needs a horizontally mirrored PNG while retaining the exact decoded canvas size.

Starting facts

  • The source is one supported raster image.
  • Text or asymmetric symbols will also be mirrored.

Observed operation: Choose horizontal flip and render a separate same-size PNG without replacing the source.

Review the result: Compare orientation, canvas dimensions, transparency and any mirrored text before downloading the result.

Boundary: Mirroring is a geometric transform and does not decide whether reversed text, symbols or handedness are appropriate.

What you can do

Mirror one local raster horizontally or vertically and download a same-size PNG copy.

If it does not work

  • Horizontal mirroring reverses text, handedness, logos, and directional signs even when the pixel operation succeeds.
  • Choosing the wrong axis produces a technically valid but semantically incorrect orientation.
  • A source above the local layout pixel budget, with invalid raster bytes, or unsupported by the browser decoder cannot be flipped.

Things to know

  • Review the result on the intended device before relying on it.

Privacy boundary

The selected image stays in the current browser session and is not sent to an Aftermath processing service. How local processing is verified.

What this tool verifies

Checks the displayed limits and reports or creates one separately downloaded mirrored PNG from one supported local image.

Check before sharing

A local measurement or export does not guarantee acceptance by an external destination.
