The 20 KB preset prioritizes a passing file size while retaining the strongest quality that fits the limit.
Twenty kilobytes is a strict ceiling for a photographic image. The tool first searches the available JPEG quality range and then shows a fail state when the requested canvas still cannot fit. That makes the tradeoff explicit: a passing file may need smaller dimensions, a simpler source, or a destination that accepts a larger limit.
For avatars, signatures, and application thumbnails, the canvas often matters more than the original camera resolution. Set the required width and height if the destination provides them, choose crop or fit deliberately, and confirm the measured bytes in the validation report before downloading.

The preset starts with JPEG because it offers a useful quality search for small photographic files. You can change the output format when the destination requires PNG or WebP.
