How do I screen record only one browser tab?
Open the recorder and choose Start recording. In your browser’s sharing picker, select the tab option, choose the tab you want, and confirm sharing. Only that selected tab is captured. Tab capture depends on browser support; desktop Chrome and Edge commonly offer this choice.
How do I record a browser tab with sound?
Enable tab or system audio before starting, then enable the share-audio option in the browser’s picker if it is offered. Microphone narration is a separate option. The recorder reports when the selected source provides no audio track; support depends on browser, operating system, and source.
Do I need an account or browser extension?
No. Aftermath records locally using the browser’s screen-capture and recording APIs. Open the page over HTTPS, grant permission to the source you choose, and save the finished recording yourself.
Can I save the recording as MP4?
The recorder chooses a format your browser supports, usually WebM or MP4. It displays the recorded type. To make an MP4 afterward, use the video converter if your browser supports the required codecs; changing a filename extension does not convert a recording.
Why does screen recording not work on my phone?
Many mobile browsers do not expose the display-capture API to websites. The recorder checks for it before capture starts. Use your phone’s built-in screen recorder, then open the video tools to trim or compress the saved file if your browser supports it.
How long can I record?
The recorder stops at one hour or, in standard mode, when recorded data reaches its 256 MiB memory threshold. Browser chunk delivery can overshoot that threshold. Direct-to-file mode avoids retaining the whole recording in page memory where the browser supports it. Stop earlier on low-memory devices and verify playback before sharing.
Does Aftermath upload the recording?
No. The selected screen stream, optional microphone and camera, and recording stay in this browser. Only the source you approve in the browser’s picker is exposed to the local recorder.
